Five-a-side Tournament Raises Money for Charity
On Sunday 10th September, nine teams from businesses around the East Midlands took part in the first Fishers Dewes 5-a-side Corporate Cup.
The event, held at the home of local team Ashby Ivanhoe FC in Ashby de la Zouch, raised a grand total of £1300 with all proceeds going to the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
A variety of local businesses were well represented, all battling it out to be crowned champions. The eventual winners were Bott Ltd, edging out Crystal Specialist Finance in a closely fought final.
Ian Riley, Director at Fishers Dewes said “The event was a resounding success! All of the teams got into the spirit of the cup and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
CRY is a charity which aims to prevent young people dying through undiagnosed heart conditions by running screening days, funding medical research and raising awareness in young people. CRY is looking to raise funds for a heart screening event in Ashby de la Zouch which will take place in January 2018.
Ian added “We’re extremely grateful to all of the participants for their support, and to the visitors on the day who all contributed towards the total amount raised. We’re also grateful to Ashby Ivanhoe FC who helped host the event.”
