Meet Donna Ennis, a Solicitor in our Commercial Property department.

Tell us what you do at Fishers

I work in the Commercial Property team as a Solicitor. We specialise in buying or selling commercial property, leasing business premises and buying development sites. I get involved from the ground up, by going to site to see empty developments and seeing the full project, which to me is a highlight of the job. I enjoy helping clients and problem solving.

My typical day includes calling or emailing the client, having discussions about their needs and seeing what their priorities are. I’ll explain the different routes, understand what legal documents would be required and then quote for the work.

What did you do before?

Prior to starting work at Fishers I worked at various legal companies. I previously undertook work for a major national electricity provider and also have experience in the buying, selling and leasing of Residential Property.

Before work, I went to the University of Hull, then did a legal practice course at Nottingham law school. I then worked at a few solicitors and started as a paralegal in the networks team. My previous training contract led me to Fishers.

If you had a day off with no prior plans, how would you spend your day?

I would take my beagle, Jessie, for a walk in the Peak District near where I grew up.

Have you got an interesting hobby in general?

I love live music, festivals. I have been to Glastonbury three or four times, and I managed to get tickets for this year too.

What would people find shocking about you?

I travelled to Australia on my own when I was 16? I visited the East Coast and the Great Barrier Reef and had a great time. I was there for a total of nine weeks and flew out the day after my prom and was back a day before college.

Where do you really want to travel to?

A place I really want to go to is the Galápagos Islands, off the West Coast Ecuador.

What’s your favourite city in the world?

My favourite city in the world is Cape Town.

Tell me one great thing about working at Fishers

No two days are the same. There are new things to learn and solve almost every day and I enjoy helping clients explore the possibilities available to them. It’s even better when those clients give good feedback on the work you’ve done for them.
