Paralegal (Wills and Probate)

Full Time

Working for Fishers Solicitors is like joining a new work family. As well as being dynamic, innovative and forward thinking, our professional team of staff are friendly, efficient and have the desire to provide exceptional client care at the heart of all they do.

We are now recruiting for a Paralegal to join our busy and highly experienced Wills and Probate department, based in Ashby de la Zouch.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:

Estate Files

  • Running estate files under supervision of fee earner
  • Writing to various asset/liability holders
  • Placing Trustee Act Notices
  • Collating and entering information on computerised Probate Package and updating on an on-going basis
  • Drafting IHT forms
  • Preparation of Estate Accounts

Trusts

  • Administration of Trust files – investments, tax, liaising with financial institutions and stockbrokers and clients
  • Registering Trusts with HMRC

Lasting Powers of Attorney/Land Registry

  • Drafting and registering LPAs and liaising with clients and OPG
  • Obtaining documents from Land Registry and registering on line

General

  • Drafting correspondence/emails
  • Dealing with clients in person and on the telephone
  • Dictaflow
  • Diarising deadlines and chasing up actions required on files
  • Typing Minutes
  • Arranging meetings involving numerous attendees

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Experience of working as a Paralegal in a Probate Department
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Can do attitude
  • Ability to hit the ground running

How we will use your information

As a prospective employee, as part of the recruitment process, Fishers Solicitors will ask you for an up to date CV and potentially a covering letter to support your application. These documents are likely to include information relating to your career history, qualifications, salary, personal details and potentially medical history if you have chosen to include that information as part of your application. This data is collected from you to enable us to make decisions regarding your suitability for the advertised role and the source of this data is you as the Data Subject.

Should you be invited to attend an interview, an assessment record will be generated which assesses your performance in the assessment process. The source of this data is both you as the Data Subject and us as the Data Controller.

For prospective employees, your personal data will be stored for a period of 6 months post application.

Should you be successful in your application, further data will be requested and you will be issued with a further privacy notice informing you how that data will be used. Should you become an employee of Fishers Solicitors, you’re CV, covering letter and interview assessment records will then be kept for a period of 6 years post employment.

If you are unsuccessful for the role which you have applied for but another suitable role becomes available during the retention period, then we may use your personal email address to contact you regarding this new opportunity.

We will only disclose information about you to third parties if we are legally obliged to do so.

If in the future we intend to process your personal data for a purpose other than that which it was collected we will provide you with information on that purpose and any other relevant information.

Your rights
