Having qualified as a Solicitor at Fishers Solicitors nearly 5 years ago and then relocating to Birmingham, time really has flown by since settling back in the East Midlands and rejoining the firm’s Commercial Property Department a year ago.

I decided to return to the firm because everyone here is approachable and you aren’t made to feel like a cog in a machine. The firm also gives you access to various online training resources to help develop your skills whilst learning on the job and being supervised where necessary.

It has been great to see so many familiar faces while adjusting to the firm’s modern open plan office at Ivanhoe Business Park and having the opportunity as a fee earner to work from home 3 days a week.

While employees are expected to work hard and ensure our clients are at the forefront of everything we do, the firm offers a good work life balance and employees who go above and beyond by assisting other colleagues or providing great customer service are rewarded on a quarterly basis.

You can also participate in the monthly activities that are held by the firm to allow colleagues to come together and various charity events are organised throughout the year such as bake sales, together with a food bank and sleepover for the YMCA. A birthday wheel has also been introduced so that you can win a prize on your birthday!

Not only does the firm give back to its employees but the Ashby Connect initiative which was introduced in April 2022 helps to bring the local community together at an informal networking event where businesses and professionals can liaise with one another over a free lunch. The event is held on the last Wednesday of every month from 12pm - 2pm at The Beeches in Ashby.

I’ve really enjoyed my first year back at Fishers Solicitors and cannot wait to see how the firm goes from strength to strength in the next few years with its forward thinking and collaborative approach to the local community, its employees, and the charities it supports.
