Do you have a festive family tradition?
When I was a child my Gran took me to midnight mass with her and when we got home, I was allowed to open one present before bed. Mam and I don’t go to mass now, but we still open one parcel on the 24th before bed.
For Hogmanay (Scottish New Year), when the bells ring at midnight, I watch the fireworks over Edinburgh Castle on the TV and then run to the front door and watch them outside as Mam lives near Edinburgh, and wish Happy New Year to the neighbours who are also outside. There is usually someone playing bagpipes as well which I love.
How do you get ready for Christmas, at work and at home?
At work, about 4-6 weeks before we break up for the festive period, I review the client files I am involved with and organise my workload based on what I can complete before the end of the year and what is unable to proceed until the new year. At home, I spend the festive period with family in Scotland. I bake homemade treats and give them out to family and friends on the 21st of December for Yule. My birthday is also at this time of year, so it is nice to celebrate that with them.

Being with my family, remembering loved ones who are no longer with us, and listening to a local pipe band going through the village on the 1st of January.
