Writing a Will this Christmas
Making a Will is something no one wants to think about. It’s easy to put it off, or plan to sort out later, maybe in the New Year when good intentions and resolutions will be everywhere you look. This time of year is busy enough without adding in extra jobs to do, right?
Relax knowing your Will is up to date
If you don’t have a Will, or if you do have one but it’s so out of date that it might do more harm than good, it’s best to get it sorted as soon as you can. Get your Will done properly, know it’s all sorted and is suitable for your current circumstances, then you can relax, knowing you’ve done everything you possibly can to help your loved ones, should the worst happen. Have another mince pie, put your feet up and watch a lovely feel-good Christmas film.
What happens if you do not have a Will?
If you don’t have a Will, the Government sets out who gets your estate and who is in charge of dealing with the administration, in a set of rules called the intestacy provisions. These rules were written in 1925, so not exactly modern and up to date. And while it’s easy to put off thinking about it, we know, one day, we are all going to need a Will.
Make life easier for your loved ones with a Will
Leaving a Will makes life easier for those left behind. Without a Will, families are left not only dealing with the bereavement and all the legal work to be done when someone dies; but they’re also left wondering if what the Government rules say, is what you really would have wanted. It might be that the person you want to handle the administration, is not the person authorised to act under the intestacy rules.
