Christmas in the community
Spreading joy by sponsoring the town's local Christmas tree!
In March 2020 we were told to stay at home. Businesses were forced to close, individuals worked from home, and people could no longer meet family and friends. It was a tough time and one we will remember for the rest of our lives. During 2020 there were times lockdown restrictions were lifted and there was hope. But as winter struck, Christmas wasn’t looking promising. That’s why at Fishers we wanted to do something that would bring some sparkle to our home town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, over the festive period.
Every year Ashby has a Christmas tree, sponsored by a local business and 2020 was the year we paid for the Christmas tree and lights to shine brightly over the beautiful high street in Ashby, where we’ve been based for nearly 200 years.
It was really important when we moved from the high street to the Ivanhoe Business Park in November 2019 that we remained accessible and available to the community as much as possible. We still try to get involved in local activities as much as we can, and when normality returns we hope to be able to offer lots more to the local community.
The Ashby Christmas tree in 2020 was very positively received with there being hundreds of comments of praise about it on social media channels. We were happy to be a part of a great success at a very bleak time.
This year, we're sponsoring the Christmas tree for the third year running! We can’t wait for the tree to go up and for people to get as much enjoyment out of it as they did last year.
If you wanted to see our Christmas tree, it will be positioned outside of WHSmiths from the end of November onwards. We're currently awaiting for the tree to be placed in position and the finishing touches to be added including a brand new Fishers banner before we capture new photos!
