Experience
Laura qualified as a solicitor in 2008, after working in civil litigation as a paralegal. For a time, Laura combined her work in practice with teaching undergraduates at De Montfort University, later deciding to focus exclusively on her role as a solicitor.
Laura joined Fishers in 2024, to work with Director and Dispute Resolution Solicitor Emma Allen.
Laura is experienced in a range of contentious matters, including disputes between executors and beneficiaries, such as claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, acting for landlords who want to recover possession of residential property and rental arrears. Also in relation to property, Laura has acted for owners where boundaries or rights of way are disputed. In a commercial context, Laura can help creditors pursue unpaid invoices, and assist with proceedings for the renewal or termination of leases.
Over the years, Laura has helped countless clients, working to understand their objectives and guide them through the legal process. Laura prides herself on her ability to view matters pragmatically, and having an eye for creative outcomes, in order to achieve resolutions with more speed and less expense. Commenting on her approach, Laura says that ‘there is a time and a place for an adversarial approach, but a resolution that is reached co-operatively will often be preferable, especially where disputes involve family members, to allow the parties to move forward more quickly’.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys the theatre and reading, when her young family gives her time!
