Guy Birtwistle is a Director and solicitor. He is Head of the Wills, Tax, Trusts & Probate Department. He has many years of experience in dealing with wills, estate and trust administration, tax planning, and applications to the Court of Protection.

Experience

Guy undertakes a broad range of work and his experience includes: drafting tax saving wills; acting in estates of small and large value; dealing with inheritance tax returns; applications for deputyship and for the appointment of new trustees to the Court of Protection; making and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney; dealing with the administration of estates with no will (intestacies), liaising with genealogists to find the correct beneficiaries.

His knowledge and experience enable him to sensitively give informed advice and guide clients through the legal process.

Achievements

Guy has successfully dealt with several large estates involving queries with HMRC over Inheritance Tax.

He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).

Guy is also a Dementia Friend, which is an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Society, giving him an insight into advising those living with Dementia.
