Charles has a long standing reputation with local businesses and directors as well as land owners and farmers. He has extensive experience in the construction and mining sectors.
He has advised on a range of partnership and business issues including mergers and acquisitions, hive offs and partnership dissolutions and de-mergers.
As a litigator Charles has represented directors, non-executive directors and trustees in a range of disputes. He has made successful claims in connection with Interest Rate Hedging Products (IRHPs) and has succeeded in a range of successful claims for Professional Negligence and Breach of Fiduciary duties.
Achievements
Charles acted on the acquisition and a £96 million refinancing of a deep mine in South Yorkshire for private investors. He has advised on and worked in conjunction with a range of professionals on a Consented Clean Coal Gasification Project and continues to work for clients in this sector.
Charles has advised on the successful demerger of a business partnership with minimal tax consequences.
Charles also has extensive knowledge of the HS2 Project and its consequences for the locality. He has been involved in representations to and meetings with HS2 Limited and the Secretary of State.
