About the role

Due to internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic Legal Secretary to join our Conveyancing team, supporting multiple fee earners up to Director level.

This is a full time, office-based role where the successful candidate will possess excellent technical, organisational, written and communications skills.
 

Main responsibilities

If you are looking for a role where using your initiative is encouraged and you are looking to get more involved with clients and the drafting of documents, this could be the role for you. We are looking for a team player who can hit the ground running with duties such as:

  • Preparing correspondence and documents through audio-typing
  • Preparing documents using the firm’s case management system
  • Attending clients both in person and on the telephone, providing support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care
  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with queries
  • Record attendance details accurately within the case management system
  • Taking and recording accurately any messages, passing them to the appropriate person without delay
  • Undertaking all necessary copying and scanning
  • Providing support to other secretaries as required
  • Making appointments, arranging meetings and maintaining an up-to-date diary for the relevant fee earner
  • Undertaking specific training when required to do so, and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information
  • Complying with the terms of the Office Manual and any other reasonable request that may be made by the Head of Department or another Director.
     

Skills, qualifications and experience

To be successful in this role, candidates will possess:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within conveyancing
  • Good technical knowledge within Microsoft office and case management systems
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • A professional and polite telephone manner
  • The ability to work as part of a team, as well as using their own initiative
  • A can do attitude
  • Strong organisational skills with great attention to detail
