When did you join Fishers?
September 2006
Where did it all begin?
My very first paid employment was selling ladies underwear on Long Eaton market every Saturday from the age of 14. After leaving Ockbrook School, I started a Science Diploma (which was second choice after I failed to get into music college) but science was definitely not for me. I enrolled on a secretarial course and in one year achieved top typing, shorthand and word processing qualifications. My first full time job in law was as a Secretary at a law firm in Nottingham, working for a residential property Solicitor.
Describe your job in no more than 10 words?
I investigate and convey estates in land and/or property.
What do you like most about your job?
I am passionate about meeting clients and visiting them at their home or premises so that I can really get to know them and understand what they wish to achieve. In property purchase transactions, I love making those phone calls to clients to tell them when they can collect the keys to their new property – they are just the happiest phone calls to make. The people that work with me also make a big difference to my workplace.
What has been your biggest work achievement to date?
Completing residential property transactions within 5 working days. With committed clients and co-operative Lawyers, it is possible.
What is your favourite food?
All – I couldn’t pick a specific category! However I don’t like sardines.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Outside of work I love to socialise with friends and family. I attend Zumba classes and enjoy walking. I enjoy going to the theatre and arenas for a variety of events including musicals, comedy and concerts. I also like cooking and entertaining at home and have a keen interest in photography. I am also a Nottingham Forest supporter (is it wise of me to advertise this?!)
What music do you like?
I like most music, old and new – probably more old than new actually. My favourite artist is Madonna but on my MP3 player you would find a mix of pop, classical and rock music.
What film can you watch over and over again?
National Velvet starring Elizabeth Taylor – she was such a Hollywood legend.
What is your favourite TV programme?
24. I also like CSI, QI, Have I Got News For You, and the Apprentice.
What is the best book you have ever read and why?
The Coffin Dancer by Jeffery Deaver because I was thoroughly engrossed from start to finish and couldn’t put it down until I finished it.
Where are you going on your next holiday?
Dominican Republic
What is your favourite tipple?
A few favourites – in no particular order and certainly not at the same time – Champagne, a crisp white Sauvignon Blanc or Chablis, Bacardi & Coke, Dry Martini (but no ice), Pear Cider.
